Vintage Beni Ouarain / 493 x 225 cm
An exceptional piece in every sense, this vintage Beni Ouarain rug is a true collector’s item, magnificent in size, quality and presence. Densely and precisely double knotted using the finest wool, it offers an incredibly soft and plush feel underfoot. This type of rug historically served not only as a floor covering but also as a thick, insulating layer for seating and sleeping during the cold Atlas winters—its warmth and comfort are unmatched.
The field is woven in natural ivory shaggy wool, structured with a perfectly symmetrical network of fine lozenge motifs in black. But what truly sets this piece apart is its surprising twist, instead of the traditional dark borders, the weaver chose thick, double knotted ivory borders, further amplifying the sense of softness and cohesion.
There are no irregularities or symbolic detours, this is a meditation on balance, skill, and aesthetic restraint. A timeless masterpiece, finished with long old-school braided tassels.
