Vintage Beni Ouarain / 355 x 180 cm

This older vintage Beni Ouarain reveals its story in a composed four-part division, each chapter unfolding with increasing intricacy. The tale begins quietly, a field in natural ivory wool, now gently aged, is overlaid with a symmetrical network of miniature lozenges in charcoal, touched here and there with a faded orange whisper.

As the composition progresses, the weaver introduces subtle changes, lozenges punctuated with dots, organized in repeated numeric formations. Their meaning remains elusive, yet their structure speaks of intention and symbolism. The transitions between these chapters are marked with horizontal lines of reversed checkered tufting in ivory, black, and orange, a visual pause between verses. Each segment mirrors the others in structure, yet shifts in detail, suggesting a deep personal narrative.

The rug is edged with subtle black borders and finished with braided tassels, though age has left its mark on the ends, repairs can be made if preferred. With its low to medium pile and nuanced storytelling, this piece is better admired than walked upon, deserving a prominent and peaceful place.
