Vintage Talsint Rug / 386 x 160 cm
From the remote Aït Bou Ichaouen tribe comes this striking vintage Talsint rug, a piece that captures the raw poetry and spirit of its origin. True to the weaving style of this secluded eastern Moroccan region, the rug features a loosely knotted, shaggy pile with a deeply textural feel.
Its field glows in softly time-faded magenta, shifting in tone like a worn desert sunset. Along this tactile canvas runs a series of vertical bands filled with small lozenge motifs, knotted in a deliberate tri-colour palette of charcoal, ivory, and pale orange. The weaver’s clever use of color transitions forms striking, almost hidden shapes, facing triangles, arrowheads, and echoed lines, subtly revealing layers of tribal storytelling.
Ladder-patterned borders in charcoal frame the composition, lending strength and balance to the more whimsical body of the rug. Finished at both ends with flatwoven bands and long twirled fringes, this piece is a beautiful representation of the bold, abstract language of the Aït Bou Ichaouen.
