Vintage Beni Ouarain / 356 x 202 cm

A very tribal spirited vintage Beni Ouarain with a field in natural ivory and bold patterning in charcoal. The composition begins with a row of broken lozenge motifs, fragmented yet intentional and shifts into a reimagined lozenge design that momentarily connects with its predecessor before diverging into a new direction. This kind of deliberate redirection is a hallmark of Berber artistry, often mistaken for a mistake, it is, in fact, a narrative choice, a symbolic transition to a new chapter.

The central network is flanked by vertical rows of tribal symbols, grounding the story in heritage. Toward the end, a lone branch-like motif appears, quiet, simple, and poetic, perhaps a final signature left by the weaver. The rug is bordered with double-sided dark selvedges and beautifully finished with flatweave bands, checkered tufting, and long braided tassels on both ends. Made with soft wool, double knotted into a medium pile, this piece is as textural as it is expressive.
