Vintage Mrirt rug – 338 x 180 cm

A rare find among the vintage Mrirt weavings, this rug is a quiet study in restraint and refinement. Its densely knotted field is bathed in subtle abrashed royal blue, shifting ever so gently in tone, with the faintest signs of time. The composition is minimalist, abstract and almost meditative.

A few thoughtfully placed knots forecast a pure white end stroke, offering powerful contrast, like a breath of light. Along the selvedges and borders, the weaver has sparingly introduced white threads in an understated rhythm, suggesting structure without declaring it. A single red cross, discreet and deliberate, serves as the weaver’s mark, a small gesture with presence.

Finished with twirled tassels on one end, this piece is artful in its simplicity, perfect for those drawn to color, texture, and subtle symbolism.
