Vintage Aït Bou Ichaouen / 467 x 212 cm
A magnificent vintage weaving from the Aït Bou Ichaouen tribe, where Amazigh tradition meets a kaleidoscope of joyful hues. This rug captivates with a vivid palette of lemon yellow, lavender, rose pink, sky blue, and burnt orange, grounded by bold black and deep brown motifs for striking contrast and depth.
The composition unfolds in a vertically structured grid, where no two blocks are identical. Butterfly and hourglass motifs appear throughout, symbolizing continuity and femininity, while two central yellow diamonds outlined in black offer a quiet focal point, perhaps a protective talisman in the language of tribal storytelling.
Knotted in a soft, medium-to-high pile, this piece is rich in both texture and cultural expression. A balanced blend of structured repetition and free-form detail reveals the improvisational nature of Berber artistry.
Finished with a flatweave band and beautifully twirled tassels. A radiant and tactile textile, equally suited to minimalist or bohemian spaces seeking a bold, soulful statement.
