Vintage Beni Ouarain Hanbel | 416 x 189 cm
A remarkable and rare example of a vintage Beni Ouarain hanbel, woven with a now uncommon loop pile technique. Traditionally crafted for versatility, this rug can be used on both sides, an age-old practice that reflects the seasons and the weaver’s deep understanding of form and function.
The piled side offers a soft, cozy texture in natural, undyed wool. Horizontal patterned bands gently emerge, revealing intricately repeated Berber symbols that speak of heritage and tradition. On the reverse, the rug transforms into a flatwoven canvas, where the decorative bands are more defined and pronounced in rich tones of charcoal and dark brown.
A textural and visual delight, this piece effortlessly bridges the practical and the poetic. Its muted, earthy palette and reversible design make it a stunning addition to any space, one that invites touch as much as admiration.
