Vintage Boujad Rug / 323 x 190 cm

This vintage Boujad has gracefully aged into a lower pile, allowing the intricate language of its patterns to emerge more vividly with time. As the soft surface has shed its ‘hairs’, a remarkable variety of symbols now comes to light, each row within the lattice structure narrates a different tale through repeated motifs. At the heart of the composition lies a distinct central opening, a moment of contrast and curiosity, as if the weaver has paused to whisper another story entirely.

The rich ground of paled magenta and dusty rose sets the tone for a palette that includes orange, ice blue, soft pink, lavender, ivory, and black, an unusual and poetic assembly of hues. A black and white zigzag border surrounds both the main narrative and its inner tale, all edged with dark selvedges for a grounded finish. Soft, all wool, and beautifully aged.
