Vintage Zayane Rug / 282 x 190 cm

A vintage Zayane rug alive with the intricacy and rhythm typical of the weavings from this region in the Middle Atlas. The field glows in warm, burnished tones, burnt red with subtle glimmers of magenta and cognac, serving as a richly hued canvas for the detailed tribal language it carries.

Lozenge motifs, shaped like turned squares, are rhythmically knotted across the surface, each holding cross symbols that echo the idea of grounding and connection. The square reappears throughout the design, in varied sizes and constructed from refined miniature patterns. The composition concludes with a line of decorated squares, each holding an eight-pointed star, a beautiful ending to this tribal story.

Knotted in tones of orange, ivory, and deep indigo, this rug is densely double knotted with a gracefully aged low pile, soft to the touch and layered in character. Finished with braided tassels that complete the piece with an artisan’s care.
